The Riverdale High School art department is proving once again why it is one of the premiere programs in the region. Riverdale High students make up a fourth of all the finalists in the prestigious George Rodrigue Foundataion of the Arts annual art contest.

Riverdale students Hope Gann and Nathan Vogel were named finalists in the junior division. In the senior division, Chelsea Lee and Kourtney Aultman were selected as finalists. This is the second year in a row four students from Riverdale have placed as finalists in this competition. All four are Talent Art students as well as IB Art students. Their teacher is Riverdale’s 2013-2014 teacher of the year, Kimberly Robinson

The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts will provide $45,000 in college scholarships and awards to students through this annual contest. Over 600 entries were submitted from across the state. This year’s theme was Carnival in Louisiana. These students will be honored at a formal awards luncheon in April, where they will be awarded either cash or scholarship funds.
