Students at Chateau Estates School had the opportunity to learn about the value of physical fitness from professionals with the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans.
Chateau Estates students in grades 3-5 took part in the Saints Junior Training Camp. Saints representatives taught students the importance of getting 60 minutes of exercise every day and of staying hydrated. The kids participated in various activities, including: a vertical jump challenge, quarter back station, flag football station, and a passing station.
Students in grades 3-8 participated in the Pelicans Junior Training Camp. The activities included footwork drills, shooting stations, passing practice, and dribbling. Students even had their arm span measured by a Pelicans dance team member. Pierre the Pelican made an appearance and had the kids pumped up with excitement.
“We cannot thank the Pelicans Junior Training Camp and Saints Junior Training Camp enough for coming out and sharing their love of sports with our kids,” said Chateau Estates teacher Kellen Murphy. “We would not be able to do events like this without their support and the support of our volunteers.”
