The Jefferson Parish School Board voted to make Tiffany Kuhn the District III interim board member during a special meeting held today at the JPPSS Administration Building.
Tiffany Kuhn has strong ties to the Jefferson Parish Public School System and the West Bank. Her community work can be attributed to her desire to help students and teachers reach their goals. A graduate of Fisher Middle-High, Kuhn returned to her alma mater as a parent to help establish a parent organization. She was influential in acquiring for the school a digital marquee that helps communicate information to parents.
She was named Leo Kerner Jr. Elementary 2011 Volunteer of the Year, and has served as president of the school’s parent organization since 2012. Kuhn helped Kerner Elementary get two age-specific playgrounds. She also serves on the JPPSS Parent Advisory Council.
Kuhn graduated from the University of New Orleans with a major in Hospitality Management. She worked her way up through the hospitality industry to become a general manager. She currently oversees the sales and promotional operations of her family business, Higgins Seafood.
Kuhn fills the vacancy left following the death of Ray St. Pierre. She will serve in the interim role until a permanent replacement is selected during the municipal primary election on March 24 and the municipal general election on April 28.
The schools included in District III are John Ehret High, Allen Ellender School, Estelle School, Fisher Middle-High, Grand Isle School, C.T. Janet Elementary, Kerner Elementary, Marrero Academy, Truman Middle, Miller Wall Elementary, and West Bank Community School.
