A number of student from the Jefferson Parish Public School System volunteered part of their Thanksgiving to make the holiday more enjoyable for community members.
Key Club members from West Jefferson High, Thomas Jefferson High, Helen Cox High, Fisher Middle-High, and Ehret High were among the more than 50 volunteers who participated in a Thanksgiving meal delivery to residents at Wynhoven Apartments.The Ehret High football team even made the event a priority, attending on the same day they had practice for the LHSAA Class 5A state playoffs.
Volunteers delivered meals and well wishes door-to-door for the local residents. The event was organized by the Kiwanis Club of West Jefferson.
“It’s such a great feeling to have volunteers take time away from their family celebration to make someone else’s day so special,” said Karen Boudreaux from the Kiwanis Club of West Jefferson. “The residents appreciate the time and attention that we give and in turn, we get to give back in a huge way.”
