Schneckenburger Elementary School’s ongoing literacy based service learning experience entitled “Students are All EARS (Excited About Reading and Sharing)” was a featured Service Learning Project at the Brown Foundation service learning event held on Tuesday, September 13 at the Pontchartrain Center.
Schneckenburger Elementary students and teachers were honored to have been chosen as a featured service project based on successful service learning experiences, which involves learning, reading, and sharing with preschool students at the Causeway Head Start Center. Last school year, the wonderful second grade (now third grade) students completed an exciting and engaging year of learning, service, and reflection.
To celebrate their success, the third grade students and teachers participated in the Brown Foundation’s service learning event. Students and teachers enjoyed exploring the exhibits during the celebration of service learning programs, community partners, and upcoming projects for the 2016-2017 school year. Staff and students at Schneckenburger Elementary look forward to continuing our ongoing service learning project by learning and practicing new skills and using them to help our community during this school year!
