The Jefferson Parish Public School System’s uniform policy has been altered to allow students in grades 6-12 to wear shorts.
The Jefferson Parish School Board voted unanimously to the change during the August meeting. Students in grades 6-12 may wear knee-length shorts that are the color of their school uniform pants. Shorts may not be excessively tight or baggy. Students may not wear bike shorts. For our full guidelines, see the most recent Procedures and Policies for Parents and Students. The altered policy will be in effect from the first day of school on August 11 until September 30, 2016. Board policy already allows for students in grades Pre-K through 5 to wear shorts if approved by the school.
